Clear Creek Middle Schools’ seventh and eight grade basketball teams swept both the seventh and eight grade Dragons from Pickens Middle School. The seventh grade “Cats” won 52-14 while the eighth graders won 40-34.The seventh grade team used an aggressive press defense to repeatedly pick Pickens’ pockets, with a plethora of steals. The “Cat” burglars never trailed jumping out to a 19-4 lead going into the second quarter, and a 29-7 half time lead. Despite calling off the “Cats” and dropping the press in the second half, Clear Creek still won by 38 points.

The Eight grade game was a different story, as the older “Cats” began a back and forth battle in the first quarter, which saw an 8-7 Pickens lead going into the second quarter.

The Dragons drug the lead out to 13-7 with a 5-0 run over the minute of the second quarter; however a 17-4 Bobcats’ bombardment saw Clear Creek lead 24-17 at the half.

The Dragons were not able to recover the lead, despite Pickens cutting the lead to four, 30-26, at the end of the third quarter.

The Bobcats held on for a six point 40-34 win.
