Oneta Sluder Parks: Obituary

Mrs. Millie Oneta Sluder Parks of the Boardtown Community, Ellijay, Ga. passed from this life Saturday, December 24th, 2011 from her home. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church for over 75 years. Mrs. Parks was born January 15th, 1925 to her late parents Walker Monroe and Learh Sumner Sluder in Ellijay, Gilmer County, Ga. and was a retired inspector at Robert Shaw Controls. She is preceded in death by husband Franklin “Lin” Parks. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Gary Hyde, 187 N. Jones Mill Road, Ellijay, Ga. 30540.

Survivors include daughter Linda Parks Reed of Ellijay, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law James and Shirley Parks of Peachtree City, Ga., Monroe Parks of Ellijay, Ga., Jerry and Debbie Parks of Ellijay, Ga., Keith Parks of Ellijay, Ga.; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grand children; sister Betty Sluder Vautrot of Ellijay, Ga.; brothers and sisters-in-law Wayne and Shirley Parks of Ellijay, Ga., Johnny and Shirley Sluder of Ellijay, Ga.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27th, 2011 from the Salem Baptist Church with Rev. William Faucett, Rev. Bryan Hensley, Rev. Chris Chastain, Rev. Sam May and Rev. Jamie Kerr officiating, music and song by the Salem Baptist Church Choir. Interment service will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Michael Reed, Jeremy Parks, Ryan Parks, Jay Reed, Tracy Moye, Dillon Reed, Ty Hager, Caileb Reed, Eli Reed, Zander Parks, Gavin Reed, Dalton Moye and Garrett Moye.

Family will receive friends beginning at 3:00 p.m. Monday, December 26th, 2011 at Logan Funeral Home and Chapel.
