UPDATE: U.S. Marshall confirms both convicts are now back in custody in Walker County.
ROCK SPRINGS, Ga. – Prison officials say two men escaped from the Walker State Prison in Rock Springs Monday night.
They’ve been identified as Fred Brooks and Buell Emberson.
According to the Georgia Department of Corrections website, Brooks was being held on a life sentence for kidnapping in Dooly County and Emberson was being held on a 20-year sentence for aggravated assault in Gilmer County.
A statewide search for the two men is underway.
**ALERT TO CITIZENS: Gilmer Co. resident, BUELL DAVID EMBERSON, is one of two inmates that escaped last night from the Walker State Prison in Rock Springs, GA. EMBERSON was serving a 20-year sentence for aggravated assault in Gilmer County. If you see EMBERSON or have any information as to his whereabouts, do not approach him and call 911 immediately!!!
