Mr. Carl Cleveland Staton age 85 of Ellijay died Sunday February 12,2012 .
Mr. Staton was born January 14,1927 in the old Milton County in Roswell Ga. He was the youngest of 9 children 8 boys and 1 girl born to the late Elbert N. and Eliza Catherine Green Staton. He was a WWII veteran serving with the US Navy, was a member of the Albany Exchange Club, a mason, Shriner and member of the Tip Club. Upon retirement from the Lovable Co in Buford after 35 years of service, he began Staton Gallery in Albany, where he retired after 27 years and moved to Ellijay in 1997. In Ellijay he served as a Deacon of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and The Primetime Choir.
Survivors include; Wife: of 64 years Jeri Oliver Staton. Daughters and son-in-law: Lynda Ann and Allan Mobley, Cumming, Vira Dixie Ball, Ellijay, Marsha Catherine and Donald Saum, Roswell, Patricia Carol and Rick Howell, Chatsworth, Bonita Faye Staton Wells, Winter Park, FL, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 14 at 11:00am from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev.Rubin Smith and Rev.Clayton Brothers officiating. Interment will be in the Church cemetery. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Mr. Staton.
The family will met with friends Monday Feb. 13,2012 from 5 until 7 pm at the funeral home.
