Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce on the Move

The Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is pleased to announce plans to move the Chamber of Commerce office from its current location to 696 First Avenue, East Ellijay.

For the Chamber of Commerce this move will almost double the amount of space available to better serve its members, area visitors, and the community at large.

“The need for a new Chamber facility was identified during the Chamber’s strategic planning session in 2007. Since that time the Board has continually looked at opportunities as they became available to us. Because we serve as the welcome center for our area as well as the Chamber office we believed that a continued presence on Hwy. 515 was necessary; however, we remain committed to our welcome center in downtown Ellijay. When the opportunity to move into the location vacated by the Community & Southern Bank branch opened up to us we felt this property with its easy access, good visibility, and central location was a good fit for the organization,”

stated Amber S. Davenport, Chairwoman of the Board. Davenport continued by adding,

“This investment in our community and our members is intended to show our commitment and belief that Gilmer County will recover from the recent economic downturn and that we are prepared to serve our business community in a better, more efficient way.”

“For many visitors as well as prospective new businesses in our area, the Chamber office is often the first and sometimes the only impression they have of our community. The First Avenue location will better reflect our dynamic organization and our community. This move will allow us meeting space, a larger reception area, and opportunities for future growth,”

stated Paige Green, President of the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce.

“We want our new offices to be something that the whole community can be proud of,”

continued Green.

Remodeling of the facility has begun and is slated to be completed by late April. If plans remain on schedule the Chamber will move in early May.
