Kathy Jones Seeking Re-Election to Gilmer BOE, Post 2 Position

Featured Stories, Politics

Kathy Jones announces that she will seek re-election to the Post 2 position on the Gilmer County Board of Education.

I joined the Board of Education August of 2007, and have served as Chairperson for two years.

Presently I represent The Board of Education on several committees which includes Kids Kottage, Benefits Committee, and secretary of Family Connection. I believe taking part in these various programs enriches my understanding of how all the needs of our children play such an important role in their well being and greatly enhances their ability to receive a better education.

Gilmer County as well as all Educational Systems across the Nation have had to face unprecedented, and unforeseen economic crisis, which have directly impacted education. It has not been easy but we have worked together and been able of meet these challenges without cutting programs and with the least interruption to the classroom. Our goal, as a Board, is to always try and make sound decisions that give all students opportunities that will promote a quality education while optimizing tax dollars.

“I believe when we invest in the Education of our children, we strengthen
our Community, State and Country, as we continue to be “Life Long Learners.”

Gilmer County has a strong School System with dedicated teachers and staff that work very hard to ensure our students the best educational opportunities possible.

It has been an honor to serve and I would appreciate your support and vote in the upcoming general primary election, which will be held Tuesday July 31, 2012.

The general primary will decide the Board of Education members unless a runoff is required in August.

Thank you,
Kathy W. Jones
