The Gilmer Bobcats had their spring game on Thursday May 10, 2012.In a tale of two halves, the Purple took control early; however, the White team prevailed, winning 14-7.
On the first scoring drive of the game, Conner Webber intercepted the ball for the Purple team and returned it for a touchdown.
On the ensuing drive, Johnie Flakes escaped a few tackles in the backfield to advance the ball to midfield for the Purple team. The Purple team was up 7-0, and kept that lead going into halftime.
Coming out of the locker rooms for the second half, Cameron Kephart had an interception and scored a touchdown for his White squad, tying the game at 7 apiece. Colt Henderson scored the other touchdown for the White team, advancing the lead to 14-7. The White team held this lead until the end of the game.
FYN caught up with Coach Tankersley and asked him about his outlook for the season this year. He said,
“These are good, hardworking kids that are looking forward to the season after a competitive spring.”
He also wants his kids to
“continue training hard, give a good effort, and work on the small details.”
