I Love How God Arranges Things

Those of us who have been in Christ for any length of time have witnessed how God orchestrates things. He brings things together, usually without our noticing, and makes them happen. What we chalk up to “coincidences” are not really those at all. Rather, they are manifestations of God’s Providence. It’s usually after the fact that we can look back and clearly see how God’s Hand was at work.Just a week or two ago, my wife, Susan, and I could clearly see God at work in a particular situation. It started with a phone call. A friend called and told me another friend of ours daughter was very ill with a kidney infection. This young girl has a history of health problems and something like this can be very serious. A special prayer meeting was to be held at their church that night. Susan and I decided to go. In most cases, we would simply pray from where we were and not drive to another city, but in this case we thought we should.

That evening about a dozen folks showed up and we prayed, prayed hard, and prayed long. We believe God heard our prayers.

When the service was over, we began to share how God had brought these particular people together. As I said, we normally would not be there. Another lady said she always went down to Marietta for a prayer meeting on Saturday nights. But, this week, for some reason, she was led not to go. God wanted her at this prayer meeting. And whether the other folks were conscious of God’s Hand or not, the people there were supposed to be there.

God didn’t just want any old crowd to show up. He led His hand picked children to that meeting. There are no accidents even though we often claim that there are. God is in control and all things do work together for good to them who love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

One of the clearest Scriptures I know of in the New Testament that demonstrates this principle is Acts 4:27, 27:

For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur.
