Three Rivers Unit Boys & Girls Club Announcement

Non Profit

Renee Dotson, Family and Consumer Sciences Agent for the University of Georgia’s Cooperative Extension, recently visited the Three Rivers Unit Boys & Girls Club to recognize Victoria Jack for her accomplishments in the recent “Walk Georgia” Program. Victoria “walked” 636 miles during the program and was the top “walker” for Gilmer County and in the 92nd percentile for Georgia. Ms. Dotson presented Victoria with a WALK GEORGIA water bottle and certificates to recognize her accomplishments.

Walk Georgia (www.walkgeorgia.org) is a 12-week program to increase physical activity in a fun, community-oriented way. Individuals track their progress with others in their county and state through an online component that provides an activity record to keep track of weekly physical activity and time. The activity recorded is translated into “walked” miles, based on average rigor of the chosen activity and the time the individual was active.
