Voters in Ellijay are already turning out to the polls today for the July 31st General Election Primary. At the Ellijay South Voting Precinct this morning, located on Old Hwy 5 in front of the swimming pool of Gilmer County, Ellijay voters were not letting a little rain stop them from getting their vote out.
Ellijay South, the largest of Gilmer County’s thirteen precincts has a total of 2,271 registered voters and 1,933 active voters. Ellijay South Pole Manager, Donna Stull, told FYN that the precinct also had a total of 278 early voters this year.
The precinct has a total of six workers working at the precinct, and like the rest of the voting precincts in the state of Georgia will be open from 7:00 a.m. until the polls close at 7:00 p.m.
Stull says the busiest times at the precincts are between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m., 11:30 and 1:30 p.m., and 5:15 and 6:15 p.m. before closing. Stoll also says the best advice she can give today’s voters is to “Be prepared and know what they are voting for.”
FYN will bring you elections results from Gilmer County as soon as they are made available.
