On Wednesday, August 15th, former Gilmer Bobcats first baseman Clay McClure signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Point University.
McClure will make his way to West Point, Georgia to become a member on the Skyhawks’ baseball team, which plays in the Appalachian Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Skyhawks have had a tremendous amount of success on the baseball diamond, most notably winning the 2010 NCCAA II World Series.
Head baseball coach James Plouffe had nothing but positive things to say about Clay on his signing day, saying in part that he was a good role model and that he would “blaze the trail” for future Bobcats in terms of taking their talents to the next level.
