Gilmer County Extension Service Offers Free Classes

We are not born knowing how to be money smart or knowing how to eat healthy. Renee Dotson, Gilmer County Extension Coordinator/Family and Consumer Sciences Agent will present classes on Money Smarts (Tuesday, Sept. 18 OR Thursdays, Oct. 25 OR Nov. 15) and Nutrition Know-How (Thursday, Sept. 20 OR Fridays, Oct. 26 OR Nov. 16 ). Both classes will be held at the Boys & Girls Club (located in the Civic Center) from 9:00am – Noon.

In MONEY SMARTS learn how to stretch your food dollars, the importance of having a checking account, how and where you can save money, the importance of paying bills on time, how to keep track of your spending, how to plan for what you want, and much more.

In NUTRITION KNOW-HOW learn how to eat healthy without spending a lot of money, the importance of having a grocery list, what it means to eat healthy foods, the importance of breakfast for you and your children, quick nutritious meals, and portion control to prevent weight gain and much more.

Register today for this FREE, three hour basic personal finance workshop for anyone interested in starting a business or just wanting to know more about balancing expenses and income. The Money Matters class will focus on spending plans, improving your credit scores, goal setting and much more.
