Mr. Billy Ray Barnard, age 65 of Dalrymple Circle, Ellijay, died Tuesday Sept. 25,2012.Mr. Barnard was born March 17,1947 in Gilmer County. He was a self-employed in the construction industry, was a veteran serving 2 tours with the US Army in Vietnam and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Gooch James.
Survivors include: Wife: Yvette Ridings Barnard, Daughter: Leslie Keith, Ellijay; Step-children: Michael and Mary Westphal, Blue Ridge; Dale Westphal, Ellijay, Grandson: Joshua Keith, great-grandchild: Lexus Chandler Keith; Brothers and sister-in-law: Bobby and Ganene Barnard, Palm Coast, FL: Joe James, Ellijay; Sister and brother-in-law: Ann and Randy Smith, Atlanta, GA, Sister and Partner: Deborah James and Carol Willingham, Atlanta, GA..Step-Father: H.T. James, Ellijay; Several aunts , uncles, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 1:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. James Holloway and Rev. H.T. James officiating. Interment will be in the James Cemetery with military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard.
The family will meet with friends Thursday from 11:00am until the funeral hour.
