Mr. James “Jimmie” Nelson Morris, Sr., age 86 of the Cartecay Community, Ellijay, GA who passed on Tuesday October 16, 2012 at his residence.Mr. Morris was born on July 11, 1926 in Salisbury, NC to his late parents Zeddie and Martha Elizabeth Finney Morris. He was a member of Spring Hills Baptist Church and worked most of his life at the Mobile Chamber of Commerce in Mobile, AL. Mr. Morris was a honorably discharged Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force.

Mr. Morris is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret White Morris of Ellijay; Children and in-laws, Becky (Rick) Spears of Ellijay, April (Mike) Funston of Gainesville, Fl, Jay (Evelyn) Morris of Senatobia, Miss.; Seven Grandchildren; Eight Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Jeanette Jacobs of Salisbury, NC.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday October 20th, 2012 at 1:00pm from the First Baptist Church of Ellijay with Dr. David Drake officiating. Mr. Morris will lie-in-state at the church from 12:00pm until the funeral at 1:00pm . Music and Singing will be by Min. Scott Eaton. A Military Graveside Service will be held following the service at the Logan Funeral Home pavilion with military rites by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment will take place on Monday at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday October 19, 2012 from 5:30pm-8:30pm.
