Tonight, during the October 22nd Ellijay City Council meeting, the Ellijay City Council appointed Charlene Douglas as a new commissioner to the Ellijay Housing Authority.During the meeting, Ellijay City Council Mayor Al Hoyle informed the council that the Ellijay Housing Authority had asked for Charlene Douglas to take the place of former authority member Francine Stanley, after the news that Stanley asked to resign from the committee earlier in the month. After hearing the authority’s request, city council member Charles Barclay motioned for Douglas to take the place of Stanley, followed by a second by council member Al Fuller. The council then unanimously approved the motion.
The position of Douglas’ is a one year term as a commissioner on the Ellijay Housing Authority and commenced October 3rd, 2012 and will last until October 3rd, 2013.
