GCSO Offers New Service at the Courthouse

The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office is now offering APPLICANT FINGERPRINT background checks at the Office of the Sheriff, located inside the Gilmer County Courthouse. This has previously been accomplished at the Gilmer County Jail. The necessary equipment has been purchased to conduct these background checks at the Courthouse in order for the convenience and a better atmosphere for the individuals needing the fingerprints. The fingerprint background check (required for a concealed carry permit) is currently $45, and that charge cannot be waived as the Sheriff’s Office is billed that amount for each print by the State of Georgia.

This service is being offered Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Only CASH or MONEY ORDERS for $45 can be accepted for payment.

We thank you for your patience with the Sheriff’s Office as this is a new service we are providing to our citizens, and we may experience a few glitches along the way, however, we do feel that this will be of great convenience for the majority of the citizens that need fingerprint background checks.

Please note that if your organization ONLY needs a computer-generated background check through GCIC (Georgia Crime Information Center), those continue to be done at the 911 Center located in the basement of the Courthouse for a charge of $15.
