The Gilmer Bobcats wrestling team ran roughshod over the competition, scoring 232.50 total points, a full 72.50 points more than the second place Lafayette Ramblers. The Bobcats placed 12 total wrestlers in the top four, guaranteeing a spot in the upcoming sectionals tournament, with five first place finishers.The first place finishers were: Marcelino Lopez (106); Cameron Perry (126); Johnie Flakes (138); Jared Sweat (170); and JP Pritchett (285).
Daniel Bautista and Brady McCollum placed second at 113 and 132 respectively. Chaz Reimer and Tyler Bertolini both placed third at 145 and 220 respectively.
Joshua Harrison and Zack Allen placed fourth at 120 and 195 respectively.
The Bobcats will head to Pickens High School Friday February 8th Saturday the 9th to take part in the Sectionals tournament. The Sectionals tournament determines who is eligible for the state traditional tournament.
