Horace Junior Townsend : Obituary

Horace Junior Townsend age 79, of the Tails Creek Community, passed Tuesday, February 19th, 2013, peacefully at his residence.He was a member and deacon of the Crossroads Baptist Church, a honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a retiree of Robert Shaw Industries. Born Aug. 25th, 1933, to his late parents Arthur William and Millie Canzadia Dotson Townsend, in Dalton, Whitfield County, Georgia. Preceded in death by sisters Zelma T. Coker and Virginia T. Davis; brothers Delmer, Elmer, Raymond, George, and Arthur M. Townsend.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernice “Bunt” Aaron Townsend of the home in Ellijay, daughters and sons-in-law Evonne Townsend Blalock of Auburn, Alabama, Betty Sue Townsend Bolinger, Vicki and Rev. Eddie Kerr, and Renee Townsend all of Ellijay, Georgia, grandchildren and in-laws Brandon & Karen Kerr, Brad and Leah Shope, Jamie and Amber Kerr, Elizabeth Shope, Amy Payne, Marissa and Josh Green, Chandra and Darrell Epperson, Andrew Bolinger, Alicia and Derrick White, Jushua and Abby Payne, Tiffany Hayes and Tennile & Josh Chapman; great grandchildren Callie, Millie, Phoebe, Colem Austin, MacKenzie & Lilly.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Crossroads Baptist Church, with Re. Carol Holbrooks, Rev. Jamie Kerr, and Rev. Eddie Kerr. Graveside interment service will be in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery, following the funeral service. Mr. Townsend will lie-in-state at the church from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m., before the funeral service.

Family will recieve friends Wednesday, February 20th, from 4pm until 9pm at the Logan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Kerr, Rev. Jamie Kerr, Brad Shope, Andrew Bolinger, Josh Green, Darrell Epperson and Derek White. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Crossroads Baptist Church.
