Mrs. Margaret MacKenzie Wilson, age 82, resident of the Walnut Mountain Community, Ellijay, GA since 1986, passed away on Wednesday, February 27th, 2013 at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper. Mrs. Wilson was born on August 15, 1931. She is preceded in death by her parents Dr. John W. and Leone Laurance MacKenzie of Grosse Pointe, MI and sister, Mary Jane McGoodwin of Oregon. She worked as a registered nurse in Lakeland, FL. She was a member of the Cherry Log Christian Church and served as a dedicated volunteer for many local organizations such as the Gilmer County Library, GAHA, the Garden Club, Board of Directors Walnut Mountain Property Association, and as an election day voter official.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9th @ 3:00 pm at the Cherry Log Christian Church with Rev. Dr. J. David Griffin officiating.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert “Bob” Wilson of Ellijay; Daughter, Susan Wilson of Lakeland, FL; Son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lynda Wilson of Doerun, GA; Grandchildren, Whitney and MacKenzie Easom, Lance and Andrew Wilson; brother, Dr. John W. MacKenzie, Jr. of MI.
The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your local Hospice, Salvation Army or The Wounded Warriors Program.
