Doug Collins Has To Explain Vote On Continuing Resolution

Doug,

You stood before us in Gilmer County prior to getting elected and said that you would NOT support any additional spending. That you would stand firm on requiring a budget and fiscal responsibility when you went to Washington. Now you come before us and try to explain why you gave them ANOTHER EXTENSION. LET THE GOVERNMENT COME TO A GRINDING HALT.

Furthermore, you totally misrepresented to us at the GOP meeting that you voted for this Continuing Resolution because it slowed down Obamacare. You said that was because the Cont. Res. is based on the 2011 appropriations and there was no funding in there for Obamacare. That is totally not true. There was funding in there to get Obamacare up and running so they now have that money for the rest of this year, too. In less than three months you have already perfected the art of doublespeak. You and Tom Graves could easily have voted NO and stayed true to what you promised your constituents. It would have still passed but at least you and Tom would have kept your word. But no, obviously it was more important to support the other side.

Force the people in Washington to sit down and come up with a budget. You said you would do that. You have only been up there 3 months and you have already joined the old guard. You have let us down. There is no explaining why you thought it best to do that. We sent you up there to represent US, the people of the 9th District, not sell votes.

I personally asked you if you had the guts to stand up and say “Mr. Speaker I may be out of order, but what in the hell are we doing?” And you said you would!!! You have made a mockery of everything you said you stood for. We trusted you and you have let us down.
