MADD Cherokee, serving the Appalachian Trail Traffic Enforcement Network (ATTEN), 2013 Law Enforcement Awards were held Friday, April 5, 2013.

Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office received two (2) alcosensors donated from MADD and brought home awards for:

2012 Agency DUI Hero – “For Outstanding Achievement by an agency for DUI Enforcement”

Deputy Josh Chancey – 2012 Officer DUI Hero – “For Outstanding Achievement by an individual officer for DUI Enforcement”

2012 911/Dispatch Center of the Year – “For dedicated service to the people of our community”

Sheriff Nicholson stated,

“Impaired driving is a deadly threat to every citizen and visitor who travels through Gilmer County, and the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office has a zero tolerance on DUI’s. The MADD organization is an excellent community based partner of law enforcement. Law enforcement officers across our area look forward to this annual banquet every year and take pride in the awards they receive.”

“I am extremely proud of Deputy Josh Chancey on his individual award and I’m even more proud that the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office and the Gilmer 911 Center won their respective honors.”
