Iola Ponder : Obituary

Mrs. Iola White Ponder, age 91 of the Mt. Pisgah Community of Ellijay, GA., passed from this life on Friday, May 31st, 2013.She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church since 1936. Mrs. Ponder was born January 1st, 1922 in Ellijay, Gilmer County, Georgia, and was employed in food preparation at the Wildwood Nursing Home. Mrs. Ponder is preceded in death by her husband, J. S. Ponder. Donations may be made to the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Randy Ponder, 156 Mt. Pisgah Drive, Ellijay, GA. 30540, in memory of Mrs. Iola Ponder.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 2nd, 2013, from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin Young, Rev. Jerry Clayton, Rev. Wallace Parks and Rev. Scott Watkins officiating. Vocals and music will be performed by Regina Morgan. Graveside interment will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Ponder, Brent Ponder, Chris Crump, Nate Wingard, Jason Williams and Jake Ponder.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Vera & Clyde Beal of Ellijay, GA., and Patsy & Gene Godfrey of Ellijay, GA.; sons and daughters-in-law Fred & Ruby Ponder of Tate, GA., and Randall and Sharlene Ponder of Ellijay, GA.; grandchildren, Randy, Brent, Kim, Teresa, Lisa and Kathy,7 great-grandchildren, 3 great step grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and 7 great-great step grandchildren; special friends, friends and staff of Heritage Healthcare of Jasper.

Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., Saturday, June 1st, 2013 at the Logan Funeral Home. The family requests that no food be brought to the funeral home.
