FROM GILMER COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE:

On Monday, July 8th, Gilmer County Dispatch received a “BOLO” (“Be On Lookout”) for a 2006 burnt orange Chevrolet Colorado truck from Union/Fannin County that would be occupied by an individual, KEVIN ROGERS, having multiple warrants out of Blairsville that had earlier in the day eluded the Fannin Co. Sheriff’s Office.This vehicle was observed on Hwy. 515 and after a short attempt to elude, a felony traffic stop was initiated by Sgt. Jason Newman. A vehicle search resulted in drug related objects and an unlawful firearm.

Assisted by Deputies Steven Page and Eric Wyman, the three occupants were ultimately taken into custody. Those arrested were: KEVIN WILLIAM ROGERS, after initially giving a false name, of Blairsville, DARYL GENE ANKNEY of Blue Ridge, and JESSIE RENEE O’ROURK of Murphy, NC. Charges include: Driving with a Suspended License, Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act (VGCSA) after approximately 2 grams of Meth were found on the person of O’ROURK.
