Local Gilmer County wrestlers, Cameron Perry, and Lucas Patterson have been making a name for themselves both nationally and internationally. Perry recently competed in the Pan American Junior Freestyle Championships in Chile. Patterson has been competing at the Cadet Nationals in North Dakota.Perry was a member of the Gold Medal winning team in Chile, while finishing fifth in the 60Kg/132lbs. weight class.
Patterson competed in Greco Roman at 126, posting a record of 4-2 with a 13-9 win over returning champion Vincent Turk of Illinois. Patterson missed All-America at Greco Roman; however at press time he is still competing in freestyle.
