Boy Scouts Troop 402 Works With Wounded Warriors
Community July 22, 2013
Scout Master Bobby Grizzle, Leaders, and boys had a chance to work with a most amazing project for Lone Survivor & Wounded Warriors. Lone Survivor flew over 3 wonderful injured soldiers and their families. These soldiers and their families came over for a session retreat and while they had their sessions the troop had a chance to teach their children some scout skills. The troop was given an opportunity to show the kids how to fish with worms, go to the pool, Build an Arc farm, start a fire at camp. In this camping adventure the children learned how to start a fire, form a patrol, and leave no trace behind.
These kids had never been camping without their parents, so these scouts showed them the best time of their life. It was amazing to see the many wonderful smiles and memories that these children took back home with them. They each received a Troop 402 shirt making them a part of what they called an amazing troop. To end the weekend with these wonderful, amazing, and loving families, Troop 402 dedicated a flag retirement to the three families. They had never seen one before and it was so touching to see the tears and then to receive the many thank you’s from them. Troop 402 absolutely went above and beyond on this project and it is something they will remember for the rest of their life.
