Two Gilmer Teams Swim to Win in Tifton

Gilmer County had two teams—the Coosawattee Torpedoes and the Gilmer Bobcats—that traveled to Tifton, Georgia for the 2013 Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) State Swim meet on Friday, July 19th and Saturday, July 20th.
When it was all said and done, the Torpedoes ended the two-day event with one swimmer that medaled in two different events: Anna Waddell, who came in 5th in the girls 7-8 years old 50 yard freestyle, and in 7th in the girls’ 7-8 years old 25 yard free style.
The Gilmer County Swim Team, meanwhile, had seven medalists: Law Lykins with a 7th place finish in the boys 7-8 years old 50 yard freestyle and a 4th place finish in the boys 7-8 years old 25 yard freestyle, Carson Pierce with an 8th place finish in the boys 9-10 years old 25 yard free style and a 6th place finish in the boys 9-10 years old 25 yard backstroke, and Larz Fowler with a 6th place finish in the boys 7-8 years old 100 yard IM.
The boys 7-8 years old 100 yard medley relay featuring Law Lykins, Marcus Micallef, Jackson Harwell, and Larz Fowler, the boys 10 years old and under 100 yard medley relay comprised of Sawyer Hall, Carson Pierce, Clay Ott, and Isaiah Sharp, and the boys 7-8 years old 100 yard freestyle relay made up of Jackson Harwell, Marcus Micallef, Law Lykins, and Larz Fowler also brought home eighth place finishes for GCST.
