Lady “Cats” Close Call with Low Lights: Win at West Hall but Take Lumps in Lumpkin Tournament

The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats volleyball team, recently traveled to West Hall, with both junior varsity and Varsity teams leaving the Lady Spartans with losses, despite the half the lights dimming during the varsity match. A varsity loss to Athens Christian in three sets followed, briefly before leaving for a Lumpkin High School tournament; there the varsity dropped three of four, with a win over Lakeview.The week began with JV and varsity wins over region rival, Pickens High School (https://gilmer.fetchyournews.com/archives/4432-Lady-Cats-Clip-Nettes-at-Net-GHS-Volleyball-Sweeps-JV-and-Varsity-Home-Matches-Vs.-Region-Rival-PHS.html), before a trip to West Hall.

West Hall had the fall as the Lady “Cats” scratched out a win in three sets. After losing the first set, 25-17, the “Cats” clinched with back to back 25-19 wins. The JV team won in straight sets, 25-19, and 25-23. The win came in spite of the half the home team’s lights dimming during the decisive third set of the varsity match.

The Lady “Cats” next faced Athens Christian, with the varsity falling in three sets, 25-16, 25-27, 20-25, while the JV team picked up another win in straight sets, 25-14, and 28-26.

Later the varsity traveled to Lumpkin, where the “Cats” clipped Lakeview in straight sets, 25-18 and 25-20; and picked up losses to: East Hall 15-25, 18-25; North Forsyth 15-25, 25-15, 13-25; and Heritage 26-24, 16-25, 8-25.
