Mrs. Julia Genette Davenport Rogers age 87 of Cherry Log, GA died Friday October 11, 2013.Mrs. Rogers was born December 4, 1925 in Fannin County to the late Joe and Lillie Davis Davenport. She was a Charter Member of the Cherry Log Community Club, her main goal was to help people in need and serve the community. Mrs.Genette signed her oath of office for clerk at the Cherry Log Postal Service in October of 1947. During her postal career she worked at Cherry Log, East Ellijay, Mineral Bluff, Suches and the Gainesville Distribution Center. She has been a member of the Ellijay Chapter Eastern Star since 1950. Judge Mullins named Genette to the Gilmer County Voter Registrar board where she served for over twenty years.

Mrs. Rogers is preceded in death her husband, Charlie Rogers, Brother, Cloys Davenport, sister, Geneva Fowler and parents.

Survivors Include: Son and Daughter in-law: Joey & Joy Rogers, Pine Mountain, GA; Daughter and Son in-law: Alma & Tom Callihan, Blue Ridge, GA; Grandchildren and Spouses: Courtney & Keven Pickelsimer, Ashley & Hank Adams, Lauren & Clint Lee, Drue Callihan and Van Rogers; Great Grandchildren: Kenlsey Pickelsimer, McCallan Pickelsimer and Wyatt Lee; Special Friend: Billy Patterson, Blue Ridge, GA; Special Caregiver: Shirley Brindle.

Funeral Services will be held Monday October 14th at 2pm from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Hilton and Minister Butch Jones officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday October 13th from 4pm until 9pm at the Bernhardt Funeral Home.

In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Cherry Log Community Club House in memory of Mrs. Rogers.

The family request NO FOOD be brought to the funeral Home.
