Mr. Alan Robert May, age 52 of Ellijay, GA, passed Sunday, October 27th, 2013 at his residence. Mr. May was born May 3rd, 1961 in Gainesville, Hall County, GA. He was a Gilmer High School Graduate, Class of 1979, a 1983 graduate of North Georgia College, with a Bachelors Degree in Finance and Accounting. Alan held various positions in finance and accounting, including President and CEO of On Eagles Wings Business Solutions, President and CEO of the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce, Executive Vice President and CFO of Appalanchian Bancshares, Inc., President and CFO of Gilmer County Bank, and Executive Vice President of Finance for Cooke & Andrews Investments, Inc. in Atlanta.. He was a member and deacon at the County Line Baptist Church in Jasper, GA, and is preceded in death by his father, Bernard Dale May.

Survivors include wife of 30 years, Tracey Young May of the home; Daughter, Laura Elizabeth May of the home; Son, Noah Alan May of the home, Mother, Reatha Tankersley May of Ellijay; Sister and Brother-in-law, Kathy and Rev. Jess Posey of Ellijay; Brother and Sister-in-law, Ronald and Gale May, and Gary May, all of Ellijay; Mother-in-law, Joyce Grant Young of Ellijay; Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 30th, 2013 from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jess Posey and Rev. Rubin Smith officiating. Music and vocals will be by Mike Leming, Judy Hooker, Loy Jarrett, Martha Tatum, Dr. Tommy Jarrett, Corey Crump, and local church choirs. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Samuel Posey, Linsey May, Brent Land, Rev. Bryan Hensley, William “Squeak” Jones, Kenny Fendley, Rodney Key, and Randy Key. Visitation at Logan Funeral Home, 357 Dalton Street, Ellijay will be Monday, October 28th, 2013, 5:00pm – 9:00pm and Tuesday, October 29th, 2013, 9:00am – 9:00pm.
