Gilmer Looks to Build on Preseason Success

The Gilmer High School Bobcats and Lady Bobcats basketball teams held their annual Purple and White scrimmages giving the current players a taste of what to expect this yearThe Lady “Cats” started the festivities as new head coach Kim Charles had the players introduce themselves. The game was exciting as the teams went back and forth with all of the players seeing a lot of time on the court. It was evident that the team had been working hard in preparation for the upcoming year, and the players looked ready to have a successful season.

The Bobcats followed the Lady Cats with a fast paced, up-tempo game. Head coach, Jordan Hice, is back for another year at the helm and looks to lead the “Cats” to another great season, as Gilmer looks to surpass last year’s record setting season.

Wheeler Lancey and Joe Bob Charles looked in midseason form as they knocked down buckets with regularity throughout the contest. Taner Reece, Chandler Burrell, and other “Cats” also played well and showed the hometown crowd that they are poised for success.

Both teams traveled to Towns County on Saturday to wrap up the preseason scrimmages, and they found success on the road. The Bobcats and Lady Cats will look to start the season on a winning note as they travel to Southeast Whitfield on Tuesday November 19th to face the Raiders.
