Amicalola EMC’s top priority is keeping the lights on and the rates affordable. Dec 2 – Dec 6 is Winter Weather Awareness Week and gives us an opportunity to remind you of a few important things:1. We’re on the job. We’re on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our crews live and work in our service area. We pride ourselves on responding to outages fast and restoring power with the least amount of inconvenience to our members.

2. Stay clear to stay safe. Stay away from any downed power lines. Always assume they are still energized. Never touch a downed or low-hanging power line.

3. Operate generators safely. Operate emergency generators safely and use a double throw safety switch to keep power from flowing back onto the lines.
Power from generators can back feed along power lines and electrocute anyone coming in contact with them, including line workers making repairs. Come by our office for more information or give us a call and we’ll mail it to you.

4. It’s easy to report an outage. We’ve set up dedicated outage hotlines, just for the purpose of reporting power outages. Here you’ll find you up to the minute outage information, including street names, length of outage and crew assignments.
