Frances Hill : Obituary

Mrs. Frances Gates Hill, age 96 of Ellijay, Georgia died on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at her residence.She was born January 4, 1918 in Ellijay, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Gates and the late Tamer Sumner Gates.

She was a member of the Gates Chapel United Methodist Church and a past employee of Hampton Mills. Mrs. Hill is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Willard Hill, daughter, Brenda Waddell and sister, Irene Lumus.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Sandra Hill of Chandler, AZ, daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Harold Hammontree of Ellijay, GA and Sue and Danny Chasteen of Alpharetta, GA, Gary Waddell of Roswell, GA ,8 grand children; 11 great grand children, 2 great great grandchildren. brothers, Paul Gates of Ellijay, GA, Herbert Gates of Waycross, GA and Sam Gates of Ellijay, GA, sisters, Dorothy Gates Abee of Valdez, NC and Alice Davis of Ellijay, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday January 9th, 2014 at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Naylor, Rev. John Moeller and Mr. Harold Hammontree officiating. Music and singing will be by Tim and Beth McArthur, William Spivey, Larry Davis and Rhonda Henderson. Graveside Interment will follow in the Gates Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with Monty Hammontree, Jeff Craven, Jeff Waddell, Parke Crawford, Will Craven, Mike Gates, Rex Davis, Carl Hill, Jr. serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at the Logan Funeral Home. In Lieu of Flowers, Donations may be sent to the Gates Chapel United Methodist Church at 5311 Gates Chapel Road Ellijay, GA 30540 in memory of Mrs. Hill.
