Kouns Named Superintendent of Gilmer County Schools

At Thursday’s regular Board of Education meeting the Board voted 5-0 to extend Jason Kouns’s contract 18 months.This action changed Kouns’s title from Interim Superintendent to Superintendent.

Under the new contract Kouns’s salary will be $120,000 a year plus benefits. He will also receive $500 a month to cover costs associated with travel throughout the district.

In related news James Waters will remain the Chairperson for the Board and Jim Parmer will remain Vice Chairperson.
