Marian Sales passed away Sunday, January 19th 2014 at the age of 92 in Gilmer Nursing Home, Ellijay, GA.She was preceded in death by her husband Edward O’Brien and her daughters Helen Selke and Elaine Boatman, originally of Warrington, England as well as her second husband Bernard Kilkey of Glasgow, Scotland and third husband Ron Sales of Yucaipa, CA. Marian had siblings that were waiting to greet her when she passed as well.
Born Marian McDonough on November 11th, 1921. “Poppy Day” in the United Kingdom, Poppy Mac as she was known by her family and friends Married Edward (Ted) O’Brien and helped run their family business, a bicycle and motorcycle sales and repair shop in Warrington. Poppy raised two daughters, lived through WWII, immigrated to the US, raised her granddaughter Roberta and never failed as our Nan, our matriarch and the cornerstone of our family.
Nan is survived by grandchildren Roberta Markevitch, Connie Markevitch, Jodie Morgan, Sean and Sharon Selke in the US as well as nephew Alan Monks and family along with many other relatives living in Warrington, UK.
The family will hold a private ceremony to celebrate and remember our Nan in early March in the Atlanta, GA area. Interested friends can contact Logan Funeral Home Ellijay, Georgia for details.
