Local Lady “Cats” Kaylin and Payton Woodring competed at the Ga. 2014 14 & Under Short Course State Champion Swim Meet, held at the Ga. Tech Aqautic Center, February 21-23. The Woodring girls are members of the Carpet Capital Aquatics Club in Dalton. Overall the team finished ninth out of 41 teams. The CCAC qualified 25 total swimmers for the meet.Kaylin, 13yrs old, competed in six events. She finished 28th in the state in the 50 yard freestyle as well as swam on five relay teams that set five new team records and finished in the top 15 in the state.
Payton, 10yrs old, competed in 12 events. She finished in the top 25 in all relay events. She placed 10th in the 100 yard freestyle and in the top 20 in the 500 yard freestyle, 200 yard freestyle, 50 yard butterfly, 100 yard butterfly, 50 yard backstroke, and 100 yard backstroke. She also placed in the top 25 in both the 200 yard and 400 yard individual medley events.
Payton qualified for the 2014 Eastern Section Southern Zone Age Group Championships, which will be held March 20-23, 2014 at Ga. Tech.
