On Friday, May 2nd, United Community Bank in Gilmer County had their highly anticipated “Tomato Plant Giveaway.” This event is sponsored by the bank in order to show their appreciation for their customers and the community in general.
Jamie Tallent with United Community Bank stated, “We give away 16k – 18k plants, four per person, and have been doing so for the last 15 years alone.” Clearly, the excitement and anticipation has grown and the bank continues to meet up to expectations.
Although today’s weather was sunny and mild, the bank has worked just as hard during years when there was rain, thunderstorms, and even sleet. Planning for the event begins in January and it is important that the event takes place as promised. This is truly a team effort with “everyone on deck,” to make sure that the hotdogs and complements were perfect and well stocked. There was even a balloon artist there for the future bankers of our community.
A good time was had by all. Many will enjoy their tomato plants for the duration of the summer.
