Candidates running for the Gilmer County Commission Chair participated in a public forum debate last Tuesday night at the Gilmer County Courthouse. Danny Hall, Charlie Paris, JC Sanford, and Mark Simmons answered questions prepared by the host, the Gilmer Chamber of Commerce.
Most of discussion centered around the local economy, debt and budgeting concerns, and keeping Gilmer clean. The candidates also offered up their opinions on the county SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Options Sales Tax), which accounts for approximately $3million in tax revenues.
