Rev. Hoyt I. Hales age 91 of Roundtop Rd. Ellijay died Saturday May 17, 2014.
Rev. Hales was born July 23, 1922 in Gordon County the son of the late Joseph Andrew and Laura Gravley Hales. He was a farmer and saw miller and an ordained Baptist Minister for 61 years. He was preceded in death by his wife Beuna Keener Hales on August 29, 2011.
Survivors include daughters; Rebecca Burrell and Stella Brewer both of Ellijay, Rose Reece, Dallas, sons: Jeff Hales East Point, Anthony Hales, Ellijay, brother; Ott Hales, Ellijay, sister; Agnes Head, Resaca, 6 grandchildren 9 great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 20.2014 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Holsenbeck, Rev. Mitchell Pack and Rev. James Mc Taggart officiating. Interment will be in the Flat Creek Baptist Church cemetery with military rites by the DAV chapter #47.
The family request all area ministers to serve as honorary pallbearers. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Flat Creek Cemetery fund % Tony Crump, 2763 Hwy 382 W., Ellijay, GA, 30540 in memory of Rev. Hales.
The family will meet with friends Sunday from 6 until 9pm and Monday from 12 noon until 9pm at the Funeral Home.
