Morris “Jeff” Jefferson Starks : Obituary

Mr. Morris “Jeff” Jefferson Starks, age 78 of Ellijay, Georgia passed on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at his residence.Born January 25, 1936 in Ellijay, Georgia, he was the son of the late Morris Claude Starks and the late Roma Sumner Starks. He was of the Baptist faith, and worked as a logger for Starks Lumber Co, and at the Logan and Wishon Sawmills. Mr. Starks retired from the road maintenance department of Gilmer County.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ruth Rogers Starks of the home in Ellijay, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Doug Fricks and Michelle and Dennis Teems, all of Elljay, GA; son, Larry Starks of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren, April Gaston, Elisa Pendley, Ashley Starks, Cody Starks, Cole Bennett and Payton Teems, great grandchildren, Allison Starks, Alexus, Hannah and Laura Aly, Cooper Gaston, Milah and Malachi Pendley, sisters and brothers-in-law, Imogene Starks, Ruby and Roy Wright, Betty and Winston Frady, Jessie and David Pierce and Wanda and Phillip Pankey all of Ellijay, GA, brothers and sister-in-law, Grady “Bug” Starks, Charles and Ruth Starks and Billy Starks all of Ellijay, GA. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 PM on Sunday May 18th, 2014 at the New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Jones and Rev. Jess Posey officiating. Music and singing will be by the New Hope Baptist Church Choir. Graveside interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Bob Wright, Herbert Wright, Michael Starks, Christopher Starks, Danny Frady, Jamie Pierce and Alan Starks serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the Logan Funeral Home.
