Bonnie Silver : Obituary

Mrs. Bonnie Knight Silver, 96, of Canton, Georgia, formerly of Ellijay, Georgia, passed to her new home on Tuesday morning, June 3, 2014, in Canton, Georgia. She was of the Baptist Faith and former member of the Grace Baptist Church before moving into Cameron Hall. She was born on Oct. 5, 1917, to her late parents Edward Douglas and Eleanor Elizabeth Gentry Knight, in Ellijay, Gilmer County, Georgia. She was active in the Order of The Eastern Star Chapter 340 in Ellijay, Georgia. She was an employee in the Knight Motor Company of Ellijay, functioning from secretary to car salesperson for seventeen years. Moving to Canton, Georgia, her salesmanship continued for twenty-six years as agent for the Combine Insurance Company. She never intended to just sit around, her other activities included volunteering at the R.T. Jones Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, A.A.R.P. of Canton, Golden Rods Club, and the North Georgia Home Health Agency (providing meals and personal care). She embraced life to the fullest, while never loosing sight of her Lord and love for her Family.

She leaves behind her beautiful family, son and daughter-in-law, Dainus and Barbara Silver of Canton, grandchildren and in-laws; Daina and Mike Holland, Kathy and Rick Payne, Karen and Bill Sue, Connie and Harry Dillon, Cary and Elizabeth Silver, and Kevin Silver; eleven great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren, and several loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husbands John Silver and Dewitt Sweat, son Douglas Silver, sisters Rilla Knight Mayfield and Eula Knight Cloinger, and brothers Ed, Cecil, and Fred Knight.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7th, at the Darby Funeral Home Chapel in Canton, Georgia with Rev. Bobby Morris and Rev. Nathan Brandon officiating, with Terry Debbie Combs and Rev. Bobby Morris providing music and vocals. An Eastern Star Chapter 340, Graveside Service will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellijay, Georgia. Pallbearers are Chan and Todd Reece, Jason Hill, Kevin, Justin, Cary, Bryce, and Grant Silver. Honorary Pallbearers are Sam and David Murphy, Ronald, Jimmy, and Terry Knight, Paula Robinson, Sandy James, Dawn Hester, Emily Fowler, Hubert Parker, and Ronnie Atkins.

Friends will be received by the family on Thursday evening, June 5th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Logan Funeral Home and Chapel and Friday evening, June 6th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Darby Funeral Home in Canton, Georgia.
