Clara Milton Jones : Obituary

Surrounded by her family, Mrs. Clara Milton Jones, 86, passed away on Wednesday June 18, 2014, at her home in Decatur, Georgia. Mrs. Jones was born in Ellijay, GA on November 7, 1927 and was the youngest daughter of the late Rev. Oscar P. and Ina Davis Milton. She graduated from Ellijay High School in 1943. Before moving to Atlanta for a long career with C&S Bank from where she retired in 1989, she worked at J&C in Ellijay. Mrs. Jones was married to Eugene E. Jones, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by an infant sibling, her sisters, Carrie Milton Land, Christine Milton, Gertrude Milton Hayes and her brothers Clyde Milton, Clay Milton, Claude Milton, Carl Milton, Cecil Milton, Clarence Goss Milton and Chris Milton.

She is survived by her daughters, Libby (Jack) Owens of Lawrenceville, Nancy Hunt of Cumming, son Thomas Jones (Angie) of Snellville, son-in-law Mark Staley of Blue Ridge, Nephews Jerry Milton (Maribel) of Lutz, FL, Darrell Milton of Dalton, Wilburn Milton of Dalton, Niece Ann Sheets (Guy) of Hershey, PA and Nephew Keith Milton of Ellijay. Grandchildren Jennifer Hunt, Jonathan Hunt, Jay Owens, Michael (Ashley) Owens, and Elijah Jones. Great nieces Abby Sheets, Ashley Sheets, Kathy Dunn and great nephew Jerry Milton, Jr. She never met a stranger and loved people. She was active in First Baptist Church, Atlanta, where she had been a member since January 1990.

Services will be held Saturday, June 21, at 1:00 PM in the Bernhardt Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Scott Downing officiating. Music by Bill McVey. Pallbearers are Jonathan Hunt, Jay Owens, Michael Owens, Jack Owens, Mark Staley and Don DeHart. Interment is scheduled in the family plot at Liberty Baptist Church. The family will meet with friends Friday from 5 until 8pm at the funeral home. Bernhardt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
