CHECK IT OUT! – What’s going on from June 26th to July 3rd at the Gilmer County Library:Help Out with Our Demonstration Garden
We are looking for volunteers to help out with our Demonstration Garden. No experience? No ideas? Fine with us, that’s why the Gilmer County Master Gardeners are here to help. For more information please call the library for volunteer opportunities.

Summer Reading Program
Now through July 31
Drop by the library to pick up your Summer Reading packet which includes a coupon for a free ice cream! Gift certificates and prizes are awarded to those who complete the Summer Reading Program. Program is available for all ages. Be sure to pick up a calendar of events going on this Summer.

Nancy Fangles, Balloon Lady

Come enjoy the magic of storytelling with balloons. All aged invited; 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Star Wars

Use the force. Fun it will be! Teens grades 6-12th invited.

Our Water Resources (6 Up Craft)
Monday, June 30 @ 2pm

Come learn about our water resources and make an amazing rain stick craft, courtesy of Jr. Master Gardeners. This program is free and for ages 6 and up; 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Firecracker Pens
Tuesday, July 1 @ 2pm
A free craft program and all materials will be provided. Registration is required. For ages 8 and up; 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Story Time
Wednesdays @ 10:00AM

Come join Mrs. Judy as she recounts the fabulous tales of make believe. All ages welcome. Those under 9 require adult accompaniment, please.

Adult Lunch and Learn Knit & Crochet

Bring your brown bag lunch, needles and yarn to the Gilmer County Library. Lauren Cape and Lynda Decker will be your hosts and teachers. Already know how to knit? Come for the fun! If you are unable to attend a meeting, come when you can, you don’t have to be at every class. If knitting, bring #8 needles and yarn of any color. If crocheting, bring G or H hooks and Peaches & Cream cotton yarn of any color.

Join other Whovians and make a cross-stitch picture of the Tardis. It’s bigger on the inside. For teens going into grades 6-12.

Teen Advisory Board

Have ideas for teen programs? Looking for volunteer hours or to round out your college application? Let your voice be heard, join the Teen Advisory Board. Meetings are the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00pm. Ages 12 up.

Close Encounters of the Bird Kind

The Bookshelf
To celebrate the 4th of July we’re offering a great selection of Americana in the Bookshelf this week. You’ll find books on American history and culture, the West, and Native Americans. There are books in this collection that would make fine gifts, so plan ahead for birthdays and celebrations.
Don’t forget to pick up a stash of magazines for road trips, a true bargain at $.25 each. Magazines are displayed on the rack outside the Bookshelf and in the non-fiction “back room” as well.

Bookshelf hours are from 10:30-5:00 on weekdays and from noon-2:00 on Saturdays.
