Rev. George “Joseph” Murphy : Obituary

Rev. George C. “Joe” Murphy, Jr., 82 of Ellijay, Georgia passed on Sunday evening, June 29, 2014, at his residence.Rev. Murphy was born December 22, 1931 in Portland, Maine to his late parents George Cutting Murphy and Myrtle Marie Grover Murphy. He graduated from the Louisville Seminary and was the pastor of the Missionaries for Christ Faith Chapel in Ellijay and also served as a member of the North Georgia Medical Centers’ Chaplains Group. Joe served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Alberta Murphy of the home in Ellijay, GA; Daughters and son-in-law, Debra Ann and Dwight Emerson of Omaha, NB, and Kathleen Marie Eden of Long Beach, CA; Sons and daughters-in-law, Dain Richard and Susan Murphy of Ellijay, GA and Joel D. and Nancy Murphy of Lillington, NC; Grandchildren, Tamara, Aaron, Leah, Arma, and Jennifer; Great grandchildren, Shalyce, Ziarra, Isabella, Arizona, Sabrina, Isabella and Travon also survive.
