Proverbs 4:23-27 “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you. Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.” Dear Lord, you know what is in our minds and even in our whole personalities and can see those areas that can cause us trouble. These are the things that give us the capacity to mess up or build up our lives. From this wellspring can come joy and happiness if we are vigilant for what is within will determine how well we are adjusted to life.
If there is darkness within us, it will show up in our speech. If there is the Spirit of Christ within us, our conversations will be clean and wholesome. Direct our paths onto the narrow road that is built on a firm foundation of faith.
Help us to be single minded in our commitment to you and then our hearts will be true, our speech will be beneficial, and our direction will be sure. All because of Jesus.
