Daily Prayer: 07/18/2014

Proverbs 16:1-3 “The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit. Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will be established.” O God of All Knowledge, we acknowledge your providence over all human affairs. We can make detailed plans, but all events and circumstances are under your control. Help us to plan wisely as we consider all the facts, but most of all to place the plans in your hands for approval.

We are experts in self-deception. Our ways are good in our eyes and when we know they are not good we give the facts our own interpretation so as to justify ourselves. Remind us that you can see through us and others can too.

Today, we commit our plans to you and ask for your guidance as we make our way through the financial minefields that are before us. Help this person who pauses for prayer to have well-established plans for the future.

In the name of Christ, who makes our future bright.

Amen.
