Robert Laurence Wilson, age 86 of Ellijay, Georgia passed on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, Georgia. He was born September 6th, 1927 in Meriden MS to his late parents William Laurence and Ethel Vivian Windham Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church, member of Masonic Lodge 190, Lakeland, FL, member of the Coosawattee Shrine Club, and was a charter member of the Gilmer County Rotary Club.
He was a graduate of Plant High School in Tampa, FL, and earned a BS at Tulane University. Mr. Wilson owned and operated his own produce brokerage, Wilson & Sons Sales. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 north Michigan Ave. Floor 17, Chicago, IL 606701-7633 in memory of Mr. Wilson. Donations may also be made online.
Survivors include daughter, Susan Wilson of Ellijay, GA., son and daughter-in-law Robert & Lynda Wilson of Doerun, GA; and grandchildren Whitney and Mackenzie Eason, Lance & Andrew Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Margaret Mackenzie Wilson.
