Motor Vehicle Accident Involved 5 Vehicles on Hwy. 515 in Ellijay

A motor vehicle accident involving 5 cars occurred earlier this morning on Hwy 515 South in Gilmer County. Authorities are investigating an accident that occurred at approximately 10 am Friday morning on the South Bound side of Hwy 515 S at the red light at 1st Avenue. It appeared a maroon colored van with one female occupant collided with a vehicle and created a chain reaction. The driver of the van who’s name was not released at this time, was taking to a medical facility via life flight. It is believed one or more of the other occupants may have been transported by ambulance.

It is unclear pending an investigation what caused the accident but bystanders told us they thought the van rear ended another vehicle causing the 5 car crash. The van appeared to have the most damage and the driver was entrapped but Gilmer EMS were able to free the victim. FYN will bring updates as they become available.
