Mr. Billy Oscar Parks, age 85, of Lanier St. Dalton, died Saturday November 29, 2014. Mr. Parks was born February 14, 1929 in Gilmer County the son of the late Henry Oscar and Pearl Stokes Parks. He retired from World Carpet in 1996, was a founding member of the AA Group in Dalton and a member of the Burnt Mountain Baptist Church in Pickens County. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, making knives and traveling.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Bonnie Mealer Parks, sons, Rodney Parks, Ellijay, Rev. Richard (Carol) Parks, Jefferson, Ga., daughters, Cathy (Billy) Brooks, Crandall, Connie(Ronald) Nicholson, Atlanta, Cindy Dove, Jefferson, brother, Royce Rider, Fayetteville, sisters, Stella Wehunt, Gainesville, Lavonne Wilkens, Roanoke, VA, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive along with his beloved dog “Spot”.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 2, 2014 at 1:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Holbert officiating. Interment will be in the Burnt Mountain Baptist Church cemetery in Pickens County.
The family will meet with friends Monday from 5 until 9pm at the funeral home.
