Mr. Herman D. McArthur, SR age 88 of Talking Rock died Sunday November 30, 2014. Mr. McArthur was born Feb. 26, 1926 in Gilmer County the son of the late David Decatur and Montree Coffey McArthur. He was retired from Ga Marble Company after 37 years of service, was a veteran serving in the US Army and was of the Baptist Faith. He is preceded in death by a son Herman David McArthur, JR.

Survivors include: Wife: Myrtle Rogers McArthur, Sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Andrea McArthur, Dalton, Bobby and Charlotte McArthur, Oxford, GA, Carol McArthur, Jasper, grandchildren Kimberley Steele, Melanie Gibson, Blake McArthur, Wade McArthur, David McArthur, 8 great-grandchildren, Sisters: Ovaline Smith, Talking Rock, Adel Roper, Marble Hill, Brothers: Jack and Fairest McArthur both of Talking Rock, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 3, 2014 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Stover and Rev. Tom Foskey officiating. Interment will be in the Sunrise Memorial Park in Jasper.

The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 5 until 9pm at the funeral home.
