Sheriff Stacy Nicholson releases the following:Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office has two individuals in custody in connection with the shooting that occurred Friday, December 5th on Timber Fern Drive in the Roundtop Road area of Gilmer County. Walter Singletary was the victim in this case and sustained multiple gunshot wounds. It appears that Singletary will survive this incident. Daniel Pack, age 30, has been charged with Aggravated Battery and with multiple violations of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act to follow. Christy Dixon, age 34, is in custody for multiple violations of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act which occurred prior to this incident.
Essentially, Pack shot Singletary multiple times over a dispute between the two. Dixon was present for this and fled the scene to Pickens County where she was arrested on the outstanding VGCSA warrants. A few hours after her incarceration, she alerted Pickens County authorities of the shooting incident which had occurred earlier at her residence. Gilmer deputies went to the Timber Fern address where they found Pack in the process of digging an apparent grave in the yard. Pack was approached and arrested for the forthcoming VGCSA charges.
The investigation into this shooting was conducted jointly between the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI. Both Pack and Dixon remain in the Gilmer County jail. Dixon also has a probation warrant out of Bartow County.
Sheriff Nicholson states,
“Let there be peace on Earth and good will toward all mankind.”
